Children Motrin

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

My son has fever again in the past week. We had to bring him to emergency room once when the Infant Tylenol failed to reduce his temperature. When we were at the hospital, the doctor administered Children Motrin to reduce his fever. It worked within an hour. Later we asked the doctor why his fever didn’t come down with Infant Tylenol. The doctor told us that some babies response better with Motrin than Tylenol. They gave us a Children Motrin dosage chart for babies less than a year old.

We know that there is another product called Infant Motrin. We asked the doctor about it as well. We were told both Infant and Children Motrin are basically the same drug but in different concentration. The dosage chart given to us already accounted for the concentration in Children Motrin. This is good to know because Infant Motrin costs twice as much as Children Motrin. I’m not going to post the dosage chart here because I’m not a medical professional. If you are currently using Infant Motrin for your baby, try asking your doctor for dosage information with Children Motrin to save yourself some money.

Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

Vicks Warm Mist Humidifiericon is the greatest product. We tried some fancy cool mist humidifier that costs over a hundred bucks that doesn’t work quite as well as this product. My son’s skin can get pretty dry when the heat is on so we need a humidifier. Cool mist humidifier tends to be more quiet (and more expensive) but it makes the room feel kinda cold. Although they usually have a warm setting, the mist still feel rather cold. The Vicks produces steam so it adds some warmth to the room. It’s not a very big room (~10’x15′) so this humidifier works very well. Perhaps the steams’ heat helps in creating air circulation in the room to make the humidity more even.

This is cheap so I like this product a lot. I think I bought it for 30 bucks from CVS. This product requires regular cleaning though. I think the water in my area probably has a lot of mineral. There are usually quite a bit of mineral and calcium build-up after couple weeks of usage. They look brownish but they don’t smell, so cleaning it isn’t bad.

First post, my son is sick :(

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

My son had pneumonia just the past week. I had to stay home with him for the entire week. He had to take antibiotics that would give him diarrhea. It was quite bad in fact, because he wasn’t eating and appeared that he hates the bottles. We had to use a syringe to feed him for almost a week.

We actually had to go to the ER when he was sick. He had a fever so they gave him some Infant Tylenolicon to control the fever. They also drew blood, took urine sample and took an X-ray. It wasn’t a pleasant experience.

He’s doing better now. Hope he doesn’t get sick again (or at least not soon).
